The moons of Pompeii

An event- show to tell about history. The moons of Pompeii are a date not to be missed. A guided visit from sunset to the earliest hours of the night to enjoy the wonder of the ruins of the town buried by the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 A.D.

The eruption, raised from Mt. Somma, the crater of Vesuvius, buried completely the town with lapilli and ash. But after almost 20 centuries the ruins of the Pompeiii of the time have been completely recovered and, every year, they draw thousands of visitors from all over the world.

The excavations have brought to light almost intact vestiges which, thanks to this initiative, can be visited not only during the day but also after sunset. The Moons of Pompeii proposes visitors an itinerary among the most interesting places of the recovered town, lit by oil lamps just like in the Roman times. The route among the ruins is helped by interesting technological supports, by representations to see and by audio guides immersing the spectators into a unique atmosphere. For example, among the narrating voices of the Pompeian history, there is the persuasive one of Luca Ward in wired broadcasting.

7 are the moons of Pompeii: the Moon of the Death, marking the route dedicated to the Necropolis; the Virtual Moon close to the town walls from where the vineyards and Mt Vesuvius can be seen; the Moon of Success including the visit to the Perfumer’s House; the Moon of Hope including the visit to the Fugitives’ Garden; the Moon of Life going along the ancient commercial street of the town; the Moon of Mystery dedicated to myths; and finally the Moon which is Not, introducing visitors into the house of the Venus in the Shell.

The routes will continue until the end of the month of October.
