Nature Holiday

An ideal location for a relaxing holiday throughout the year, Sorrento, from Spring to Autumn, is a destination particularly suitable to spend holidays in the open air with children, thanks to the numerous opportunities offered by the territory. Besides the classical sea holiday, in fact, the territory of Sorrento Coast and that of the neighbouring Amalfi Coast are suitable for walks and naturalistic itineraries.
From Sorrento to Vico Equense, and from Positano up to Vietri sul mare, there is a large green area which includes also protected parks with an unpolluted nature, such as the Marine Park of Punta Campanella.
A classic naturalistic itinerary in Sorrento Coast foresees the discovering of the territory which includes the Lattari Mounts and which goes from Vico Equense to Amalfi Coast, starting from one of the most important reliefs, Mount Faito. From Castellammare or from Vico Equense it is possible to use the cable-car service which in just 8 minutes, allows to reach the top of the mountain or to follow the road, for visitors with cars, which leads to the Bourbons' Royal House. As soon as you come onto the top, it is possible to admire a wonderful view, an unpolluted green and to enjoy a healthy air, but also to have fun in the sports centre with swimming pool and riding ground.  It is also advisable to make a tasty stop at  the typical restaurants present in the area. From Mount Faito numerous organized naturalistic itineraries start: during the route chosen it will be easy to meet with birds like the kestrel and the buzzard and to admire typical plants of the territory like the Santolina Naepolitana and the Pinguicola Moranensis, the only carnivorous plant in Campania
Among the walks through the nature of the coast, not to be missed is the one leading to Punta Campanella, a marine nature reserve. Another naturalistic destination of remarkable beauty is the Bay of Ieranto, owned by the fund for Italian Environment, a natural park, too, founded in 1982, where protected marine species live.
Two more stops to remind all those spending a holiday in Sorrento Coast: the plateau of Agerola and Gragnano. Immersed in woods of chestnut-trees, the plateau of Agerola is one of the best places where to enjoy the view on Conca dei Marini, a small town in Amalfi Coast, famous for the Emerald Grotto, a natural cavity giving a sight on a crystal-clear sea and an enchanting scenery for the presence of stalactites and stalagmites.
Also Gragnano is suitable for numerous excursions and walks, the most famous of which is the one that from the  Valley of Mulini takes to Amalfi. Not to be forgotten are also the walks along the mule tracks leading to the Source of Forma.
